If you stop and listen closely, you can hear it: the sound of Clarkson not ordering the GT because it doesn't have a VeeeEight.

I mean you're probably right. And as much as I love Clarkson, and as much as I am sad that it doesn't have a V8, the TT EcoBoost V6 is the way of the future without being stupid and going all hybrid an shit. I mean, those batteries and motors add sooooooooooooooo much extra weight.
I just want a stripper model with none of the doo-dads and all of the weight savings.

Oh I just spent all day defending the TT V6, I love that post-recession Ford is dispensing with all the nostalgic "we used to be a decent car company" BS and looking to the future. Some of the best hot hatches ever, IRS mustang with an available turbo 4, aluminum f150 for crying out loud.
The old GT was just a tribute to a great race car. This might actually be a great race car.
It's more like Clarkson is representative of the stick in the mud older generation that is going to hate this car in the face of statistics that tell them to love it, because it doesn't have eight cylinders.

Ugh I know. You're so totally right. I just widh I were born 50 years ago so I could live in an age where Moar displacement meant Moar power.
#clarkson.
P.S. ~ Where is my TT V16?

HMM... Not sure, you might have to wait a while. Would a TTTT W16 tide you over?

I don't know if that's true. Brits generally don't have the same aversion to V6s and I'm pretty sure his review of the V6 F-Type was quite positive.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope he sees a midengined and turbo'd Ford as a sort of delicious blend of GT40 and Escort Cosworth.
But I just don't see him being happy about the change, not enough to actually pay for one... I mean his favorite parts of his GT were the giant V8, the simple classic styling, and the manual.

High-tier American performance cars just seem odd without a snarling V8... I totally understand the reasons for moving into turbo 4 and 6 cylinder engines, but that doesn't mean I like it.
HOWEVER, Lexus is now moving into the performance segment with a whole bunch of those 5.0L V8's! V8 + Japanese reliability + handling = :D
